Ever felt like your PC desperately needed a good clean-up? You know, all the incomplete uninstalls, unwanted cookies, temporary internet files etc.? Now you can fully cleanse your PC of messy errors, leftover useless bits of information with CCleaner. The ‘C’ literally stands for Crap, so it’s essentially a program that’s a true crap-remover.
If you happen not to be intrigued by the idea of clearing junk e.g. temporary internet files folder, you’ll be shocked to learn that I’ve recently removed 2 GBs of it.
FreewareAddict Rating: 9/10 | Spectacular |
Features:
Removes a ton of useless files - All the temporary files – which can use up a lot of memory – are completely removed. Incomplete/Invalid/Conflicting windows registry entries are also removed
Supports removal of files generated by other softwares- CCleaner does not limit you to the deletion of junk from just Internet Explorer, the registry etc.. In fact it can even remove junk files from limewire, kazaa, MS Office and many more.
Uninstaller provided - People who have experience with the default windows software uninstaller will tell you stories of nightmares – of the slow-ness of it. But CCleaner has a built-in uninstaller which works fast and clean. What’s more is that it does a complete WIPE-OUT of the uninstalled program, quite unlike the “incomplete uninstalls” done by the default one.
Edit and choose startup programs – Instead of using msconfig to access this list, you can view and directly edit programs that automatically starts-up with each OS-boot. A very useful tool to improve the boot-time of your OS.
Thoughtful - Given the question of whether clearing the prefetch folder would increase performance, the developers have thoughtfully un-checked the “clear prefetch data” and various other options by default, so as to prevent other possible complications.

CCleaner is a total must-have for every power user out there. You can save a couple of GBs on your hard drive, speed up program load times, remove sensitive information, iron out your otherwise messed-up registry.
But I somehow feel that if a scheduler were to be included, it’ll be a complete winner. Imagine a software that cleans your PC of crap at every boot-up! Maybe they’ll include that in the later versions. We’ll keep our fingers crossed on that though.
Supports : Windows 98/NT4/ME/2000/XP/2003/Vista
The version tested is (v2.09.600).
