Been wanting to add that Mac OSX polish to Windows? Pictomio’s here to do it. Pictomio provides an interesting alternative to view all your photos at one converged location. The transition effects e.g. smooth animated scrolling really makes this one of the very best of all freeware image viewers out there.
However, you’ll need a decent graphics card to enjoy the full effects though, as all the transitions are fully 3D accelerated. A rather basic ATI Radeon X1050 was able to run it smoothly without any problems.
Striking Features:
3D centered, ultra chic theme
The animations are fully rendered in 3D. Zooming in and out of each picture really gives a sense of satisfaction because it just looks so smooth to the eye. The folders will show ”picture-previews” when you hover your mouse over it. Plus, the semi-translucent windows and “zoom-box” really made the entire viewing process wonderful.
Image previews in folders
As mentioned earlier, you can move your mouse to a folder and the pictures will automatically appear on the side of the icon itself.
The column of preview pictures will also scroll down in an unbelievably neat way.
Various display modes
Pictiomo allows you to view your picture collections in filmstrip (a far more advanced version than WPV), as a Single Image, Thumbnails or Carrousel modes.
The carrousel mode is the most outstanding, given that it allows you to scroll through your photos the iPhone way. All you need to do is to move the scroll wheel and Pictiomo does its magic.
You can sort images according to date too.
Rating system
This is quite handy if you have tons and tons of pictures. In fact I feel it resembles Windows Media Player 11.
Lossless Rotation
It is commonly known that some image quality would be lost if an image is rotated. But this feature offers image rotation without the expense of quality loss. I’d say it’s perfect for rotating scanned documents.
Very straightforward
It’s extremely easy to use and all the controls are intuitive.
Graphics Intensive
Of course, with all those visual bells and whistles, it’s a very resource intensive application. It also offers an option for people who prefer a less glitzy version (toned-down version).
Final Word
Lets keep it short. It’s a fantastic program and it’s gonna stay on my PC permanently. Viewing pictures was never this fun before! Highly recommended!

have a great day and thank you again!
Pictomio is a very exceptional piece of software to replace a full fledge photo managment workflow. I’ve reccomended it to a couple clients that are professional photographers warryed on the “Adobe-is-large-and-expensive bandwagon”, have large photo collection, and need precise indexing features so they can bring a photo up on the fly.
I did a search example for the client on site and he was impressed that his picture of somebody who went to the moon was found so fast. All features are really simple including shortlisting, categorzing, keywording and rating. The developers said they working on batch keywording/categorizing which would give it the ultimate usefulness. They even included geotagging at a free cost.
The only snag I hit was the full screen button caused my clients computer to crash. The video card probably needs a software update and as the reviewer mentioned there is slim down version of the program without the “eyeCandy”.
It’s definitely the svelt of photo management apps especially with it’s 3D accelerated zooms and fly-out, transparent windows in full screen mode that no only add the candy but practicality by allowing you to have cataegories, photo/EXIF-IPTC info, and histogram functionas at the tip of your finger.
I am continuing to use it and will see if they are any other peculiarities or other failures but till now the count has been extremely low.
hell yes! I can view my porn collection easily now! Thanks!
oh boy you sure are naughty! But am glad that you guys really enjoyed this piece of software!
